Valentines Cocktail
A couple of jiggers of sweet talk,
mixed with the red of a Valentine’s Day,
as together we continue our walk,
finding our loving way.
Throw in a handful of flowers,
a kiss or two,
stir for a couple of hours,
just me and you.
Lightly holding hands
beneath tall shade trees,
admiring our wedding bands
in the evening breeze,
following the directions
for this recipe,
ignoring any complexions
except you and me.
I’ll always be your king,
as you will be my queen,
awakening daily to sing
of what true love can mean,
Valentine cocktails our forever thing.
